Alabama Law Foundation Law School Scholarships
The Alabama Law Foundation offers three scholarships for academically outstanding Alabama students. They are the Cabaniss, Johnston Scholarship, the William Verbon Black Scholarship, and the Justice Janie L. Shores Scholarship.
The $5000 Cabaniss, Johnston Scholarship’s aim is to recognize and assist academically outstanding second-year law students who are also Alabama residents, and, further, to help promising law students become lawyers who will make a positive impact on society. A runner-up scholarship of $1000 may be awarded at the selection committee’s discretion. More info.
In 2007, Mrs. Delia Black endowed the William Verbon Black Scholarship. The scholarship honors the memory of William Verbon Black and assists full time students at the University of Alabama School of Law. More info.
The Justice Janie L. Shores Scholarship is awarded to one or more female Alabama residents attending an Alabama law school. The Alabama Law Foundation and the Woman’s Section of the Alabama State Bar established the Justice L. Shores Scholarship, named in honor of the first female Alabama Supreme Court Justice. More info.
